Tor Pingree: Candidate for St John

Tor Pingree

Tor is a motivated PGCE student who is passionate about her local community. She has lived in Worcester all of her life and attended local schools - Christopher Whitehead and Pitmaston Primary. She would like to give a fresh perspective to local issues and help support young people to get more involved in their community.

As a city, we need to focus on reducing our traffic congestion and the noise and air pollution that this causes. We can do this by investing in better walking and cycling routes and improving public transport for those on the edges of the city. This will also allow all members of the community to feel more confident in their travel. There have been many times where she has spoken to residents on doorsteps who struggle to get to the hospital, as they no longer feel confident to drive and they don't have a reliable bus service.

With the rising price of fuel, we need to think about what we can do locally to reduce household costs. There should be more initiatives to install insulation in homes. We should also ensure that new homes are built with high minimum standards for energy efficiency.
