Cllr Tor Pingree elected deputy mayor

At the annual council meeting on 13 May Green councillor Tor Pingree has been elected as Deputy Mayor of Worcester for the municipal year 2025 – 2026.

When nominating Tor for Deputy Mayor, Councillor and Co-leader of the Green Group Karen Lewing said:

“I’m delighted to propose Councillor Tor as our Deputy Mayor nominee — because, quite simply, she lives and breathes Worcester!

Tor is a true Worcester-ite through and through. She doesn’t just live here, she plays here, teaches here and champions our community at every turn. As a talented musician, she’s graced many of Worcester’s stages and as a dedicated teacher at Worcester Sixth Form College, she’s helped shape the next generation of musical talent.

But her love of the arts does not stop at music — Tor is a regular supporter of local art exhibitions, poetry nights, comedy gigs and theatre shows. If it’s creative and happening in Worcester, chances are she’s there cheering it on.

And beyond her passion for the arts, she’s a fantastic city councillor and now a county councillor too, showing that she listens, she cares and she really takes the time to get to know her residents and stand up for their concerns.
I know that Tor will bring her energy, her heart and a real sense of community spirit to this role so I have great pleasure in proposing her.”

This was echoed and seconded by Councillor and Co-leader Alex Mace
