AN ACTION plan has been drawn up to preserve one of the city’s green spaces.
A new management plan for the Cherry Orchard Nature Reserve in Diglis, Worcester is being developed by the Worcester Green Party and community group Friends of Diglis Fields with help from Worcester City Council.
Green councillor Louis Stephen, who represents Battenhall ward, said: “Local residents really value the nature reserve.
“We need to manage this space sympathetically to make sure wildlife is allowed to thrive.”
Tony Childs, secretary for Friends of Diglis Fields, said: “It (the reserve) is now home to a variety of flora and fauna, migrating and resident birds, reptiles, small and larger mammals, and a vast number of native insects.”
Cllr Stephen added: “I’m hoping that an agreed management plan can bring the council’s operations team together with local volunteers to ensure we have a space we can all enjoy whilst maximising nature.”
