Cllr Louis Stephen spoke of his admiration for TSC Centre owner Trent Smith and praised his and his team's achievements with the new business.
Louis said: "It is always great to support local businesses. Trent's enthusiasm for bringing this gym together is infectious.
"He has really created something special here and has also supported lots of other businesses and charities in the process. It will create employment opportunities, and health opportunities and will act as a great social hub.
"Anyone with the guts together to set up their own business has got to really be admired, so I wish him all the best for the future."
